29 May 2008: Last night at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow, chef Tony Singh was named Chef of the Year at the highly respected Catering in Scotland "Excellence Awards 2008".

CIS say, the recipient of the Chef of the Year award will be consistently renowned for setting trends and breaking new ground. They will posses outstanding technical skills enabling them to show a flair for cooking that clearly distinguishes them from their peers. The winner will be someone whose hard work, professionalism and dedication are above the norm and who supports the development of the profession for the benefit of the industry as a whole. The Chef of the Year will have received external recognition for their commitment to the industry, and be acknowledged as an outstanding chef by his or her peers.

Tony Singh is the Co-founder and head chef of Oloroso and Roti, the highly acclaimed bar and restaurants in the heart of Scotland’s dynamic capital city of Edinburgh.

14th March 2008: Last night at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow, chef Tony Singh took the title of Chef of the Year at the acclaimed IRN-BRU Scottish Curry Awards 2008.

The prestigious award has been established to recognise the culinary achievements and acknowledge the restaurateurs and influential Scots who have revolutionised the country’s favourite dish.

Tony Singh is the Co-founder and head chef of Oloroso and Roti, the highly acclaimed bar and restaurants in the heart of Scotland’s dynamic capital city. Last night Tony (36) succeeded in competing against Scotland’s most established restaurateurs to be named as a leading force on the Scottish restaurant scene.

This award is a highly regarded accolade for Tony, a real representation of excellence. He says, "The year has been set off in style, it’s fantastic achievement for me and testament to the hard work of the entire team. Serving the best Scottish meat, game and fish produce, using innovative Indian recipes has been integral to my work and to be recognised in such a way is a real honour"

Roti named Best Indian Speciality Restaurant at the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2008

Edinburgh based chef Tony Singh, is proud to announce that his restaurant Roti has taken the title of Best Indian Speciality Restaurant at the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2008.

Indian restaurant, Roti, has taken this highly sought after title in the Customer’s Speciality Restaurant category, competing against reputable establishments such as Edinburgh’s Calvary Club and Mother India, Glasgow. At home in Edinburgh’s financial and cultural district, on Morrison Street, Roti, is commited to serving the best Scottish meat, game and fish produce, freshly produced using innovative Indian recipies and contemporary presentation. Roti has set itself apart from any other Indian establishements in Scotland

Roti also introduced the casual eating concept ‘Tiffin’ to Edinburgh. These tapas-style menus have the same ethos of quality-led ingredients with a home-cooked style, using secret family recipes, adding a twist to the traditional Tiffin boxes that are used all over India.

The 2008 Scottish Restaurant Awards nominations have recognised the creativity, outstanding customer service and top quality dining that is on offer throughout Scotland lies at the heart of these highly sought after awards. Nominations from restaurants, customers and suppliers to the trade were pulled together and announced at a glittering award ceremony on Monday 28th January 2008 in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
